Last Tuesday the new Disney Pixar flick Up was released on DVD and Blu-ray so I, of course, picked it up first thing that morning on the way to the station and watched it first thing after getting home that night. I enjoyed it just as much the second time around but was able to hold back the tears better than I could in the theater. Plus the Blu-ray disc (and DVD) includes the animated short “Dug’s Special Mission” which follows Dug up to the point where he enters the film and meets Carl and Russell. As always, Pixar delivers!

The next night I picked up my brother Anthony who was staying with me for a couple of nights and we went and traded in one of my Blockbuster online movies for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra on Blu-ray. The movie had a lot of great special effects and a decent enough plot for a summer blockbuster action flick. The acting wasn’t superb by any means but, then again, I wasn’t expecting Shakespeare or Gone With the Wind. Not bad.

This weekend I pretty much just stayed in watching movies, football and playing Lego Batman on PS3 which I finally completed. Sunday I managed to make it to the grocery store so I could take a swing at making Mom’s homemade vegetable soup and cornbread. After about a hundred calls to my mom, I finally succeeded in bringing her recipe to life and managed to do it justice! I’m so proud of myself! No soup for you!
