Was that a celebrity roast or was it the Golden Globes Awards? The British comedian was brash, profane, and cruelly funny. Host Ricky Gervais might have thought he was doing a comedy routine suitable for cable TV. However, most the viewing audience was middle-aged females like my Mother. While holding a pint of beer, Gervais began with a Charlie Sheen jab, “partying and heavy drinking, or as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast. Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie bomb the Tourist. Bruce Willis was introduced as Ashton Kutcher’s dad, Gervais also commented that Sandra Bullock hates poor people. There was an implication that Tom cruise is gay. Some actors commented on Gervias hosting, Robert Downey told the audience that , “Aside from the fact that Gervais has been mean spirited with mildly sinister undertones, “I’d say the vibe of the show has been pretty good. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen commented that “We recall when Ricky Gervais was a slightly chubby and kindly Comedian., said Hanks, Allen said, Neither of which he is now. Ricky Gervias ended that night by , “Thanking God for making him an atheist.” Sharon Osborne liked Gervais’ hosting talents. She tweeted , he is saying what people are thinking,” I just don’t understand why you would pick that sort of audience to shock the public. Ricky Gervias, says he doesn’t care if anyone is offended by his jokes. The Hollywood Foreign Press says that, We loved the show. It was a lot of fun and obviously has a lot of people talking. They will not invite Gervais back to host another show. The latest on the whole controversy, Gervais appeared on the Piers Morgan Show. I am tired of obnoxious behavior at award shows. Hopefully, The Academy Awards will be better, with actors hosting the show, rather than some hack comedian trying to get noticed.
