Since I broke my leg there is usually someone who tries to play with my crutches.  Daily I say,”don’t play with crutches because its bad luck.”  The same mantra I keep repeating over and over again.  Frankly, I don’t understand the fascination with them.   Well, I found myself repeating that little phrase the other day while I was eating a late lunch.  I overheard a woman behind me speaking loudly on her cell phone.  This woman called in sick to her work. She said she had a terrible flu virus. Why would someone be out in public like that?  I had to look!  At that moment, a huge frozen cocktail was served to her.  I couldn’t resist watching her quickly consume her drink.  A little later her large plate arrived, followed by another cocktail with a huge piece of pineapple hanging the side of the glass. I ate my salad, while peeking to see if anyone came to join her celebration.  No one arrived! I kept thinking be careful for what you wish for, because  you may just get it.   Montezuma’s Revenge!

  The rise in homelessness over the past year has been caused by two factors: The lack of affordable housing and the rise in poverty. Foreclosures have increased the number of people who experience homelessness.  Unemployment rose to 12% in December. The biggest job losses came in leisure and hospitality business as they employed 5,200 fewer people. Manufacturers lost 800 jobs.  

 Miracle Hill Ministries shelters  600 people nightly.  Thank you for donating food and paper products.  Some people gave the jackets off their backs!

Interview with the Red Cross

Everyone is asking how I am getting  around with my broken right leg.   I can’t drive.  I am dependant on the kindness of my Family to get me to work.  The other question is, Does it hurt?   Well yes it hurts.   Hurts like hell!!   It hurt so bad when I broke it, I felt like fainting.   The cast is heavy and bulky.  It is hard to get comfortable.   I can’t take a shower.  I have to take a bath with my leg hanging out over the side.  I wash my hair in the sink.  Thank you for your kind words . I really appreciate the encouragement.

If we get some snow,  I will get into the Christmas Spirit!  I haven’t been excited about the Holidays.  I dread having to do so much between Christmas and New Years  Eve. I haven’t put up one Christmas Decoration.  I have only bought a few presents.  Help I need some Christmas Spirit.

Maybe a White Christmas will help motivate me.

President Obama will speak tonight.  The President plans to push for a speedy deployment of troops to Afganistan.  He also intends to conclude the war and withdraw most U.S. troops within three years.    I have a loved one in Afganistan.  Last year my family buried a proud Marine on December 31st. The sound of a 21 gun salute rang in 2009.  My next door neighbor is in Iraq.I am reminded of  him everytime I pull into my driveway.  Jim’s white car sits and sits. The only car constantly parked in its place. Our lives go on, seasons have changed, and Jim’s car is still there.   Waiting…… We  are all waiting  for him to return home.   I truely hope that Obama has a plan to bring these people home.

I had the opportunity to interview Sherry Woodword of National Geographic’s new show “Dog Town”.  She gave me some great news, because these are the folks that rescued the dogs from Michael Vick’s little dog problem.  I thought you might like to hear it in case you missed it on the air.
