This weekend I got to head up to the metropolis of Roebuck, SC for the grand opening of Twisted Needle Tattoo & Piercing!  I gotta say, it was a fantastic turnout and a fun event being as I LOVE TATTOOS!  Not to mention the fact that I know several of the tattoo artists fairly well: Miles, Corey and Leejohn, the latter of which I have known for years!  Plus Merckle was my promotions guy and took some great pics!

And NO, that’s not MY bun in the oven!  Lol!

While I was there, my allergy-induced cough that I had been dealing with for weeks began to progress and has blown into a full-blown cold/sinus infection thus the sick to my ‘Twisted’!  After fighting it for several days and coughing a lung or two while on the air, I seem to be on the mend as I get ready to head to Atlanta for the weekend!

Oh, and one last thing, HOW ‘BOUT THEM GAMECOCKS?!

You know, I don’t care what critics said about Green Lantern, I thought it was effin’ awesome!  I went to go see it with Tessa Friday morning before coming to work and going on the air and I loved it!  I think DC has stepped it up a notch which they’ve been needing to do since Marvel has been kicking their asses at the box office for the past decade!  Granted, I’m a Marvel guy myself, but it’s good to see DC at least making an attempt to give them a run for the money aside from Batman and Superman.

After work Friday night, I made the trip up to scenic Sunnyview/Mill Spring, NC to catch Gerbstock III at the Ultimate Basement.  I got there just in time to catch up with an old friend from high school, Chris Buice and introduce his band EDGE OF ETERNITY.

I left shortly after their set and crashed with my friend Ron from the band MAY LAY.

I got up late the next morning and went over to Tessa’s mom’s to meet her and her mom for her mom’s birthday and to go visit her grandfather.  As we were ending our visit with her grandfather, we got caught in a nasty little storm that seemed to end just as we pulled back up at her mom’s.

Shortly after getting back to her mom’s, Tessa and I left to head back to the Ultimate Basement for day 2 of Gerbstock III.  Unfortunately, I got there right as the UPSTATE DRUMMERS group were tearing down but I still got to see SIX & TWENTY and SISTER TRISH although we didn’t get to stay for all of the latter’s set because Tessa had worked all night the night before and got very little sleep – and she had to drive home separately!

Needless to say, we didn’t do ANYTHING Sunday!

Hi there, hope your Father’s Day was well. Having said that, I don’t think we need a Father’s Day and a Mother’s Day. Whats the point? Aren’t you suspose to love your parents everyday? Hell, I don’t know how it works. I didn’t have the greatest relationship with either of mine growing up so maybe thats why I don’t see the big deal with it.

I had a pretty interesting conversation with my hot ass girlfriend Katie.  I typically sleep at night wearing a wifebeater and boxers.  I joke on the show that I sleep naked, but I don’t.  I’m a puss-I get cold.  I blame it on the diabetes.  Now save your gay jokes, but Katie was getting dressed for bed and put on a little night gown deal.  I made the mistake of telling her that I think sleeping in a night gown has to be pretty comfortable.  Dudes back in the old days wore night gowns.  Of course they also wore those weird ass hats affectionately referred to as stocking caps in Christmas stories.  She laughed at me and may or may not have called me a slur of some kind.  Whatever.  I wasn’t talking about something silky or see-through or pastel in color.  It could be a camo gown or one emblazoned with your favorite team and mine, The Fighting Gamecocks of South Carolina.  I’m gonna get one and you can call me whatever you want, it’ll be comfy as hell.  Besides if you wear a t-shirt to bed then you’re wearing a mini gown so GFY.

Are you on Twitter?  I am.  Follow mine ass:  twitter.com/OhMaffew

Jew see me on Scene On 7 with the hot Kimberly Kelly.  I debuted my Zombie tux:

Yeah it was another crazy weekend of nonstop insanity!  Tessa’s piercer, Dianna was participating in the Psychotic Suspensions show at Ground Zero Friday night so she wanted to go.  Neither of us had ever been to one of their shows before but for different reasons as mine was by choice!  Needless to say, I only watched as much of the people tugging and swinging on meat hooks as my crawling skin could take which was just a few minutes of Dianna in a tug o’ war with a larger female.  At least I got to catch some bands and see ONE SHOT KILLS play for the first time and pose with Reverend Belton!

We didn’t get to stay for the whole show because Tessa had to be up bright and early to go to work.  I got up a few hours later to go to Family Day at my mom’s job, JTEKT.  It was hot and miserable out but I got to stay in the shade and eat a crap ton of free food including grilled burgers and hot dogs!  NOM!

After that function was over, I made my way up to the Twisted Needle in Roebuck so Miles could do some touch up work to my Cthulhu tat.

When he was done, I made my way back down to the Pavilion in Taylors to announce the Upstate Rollergirl Evolution (U.R.G.E.) hosting the Gate City Rollergirls from Greensboro, NC.

When THAT was over, I picked up Tessa at the apartment so we could grab a quick bite to eat and head over to the Handlebar for NOXIOUS’ last show and to check out John Elhers’ and Chief Spires’ new band TEMPLE OF THIEVES with Skip Strong filling in on drums.

After that, we were beat but we managed to make just one more stop as we hit Walmart for a few groceries so that we wouldn’t have to leave the apartment on Sunday and, believe me, we did not!

A couple of our sister Entercom stations were having a premiere of the new J.J. Abrams/Steven Spielberg flick Super 8 at the Great Escape 14 IMAX theater in Simpsonville on Tuesday night so, of course, I had to go!  Tessa was called off work that day so she was able to join me.

Once again, Spielberg presents another alien movie only this one seems like The Goonies meets a pissed off E.T. with the kids making a low budget zombie flick as opposed to seeking buried treasure.  The film was well made and had one of the best train wreck scenes in a film – one that makes the one in The Fugitive look like the special effects from the silent film era!

After the screening was over, Tessa and I grabbed dinner at Ruby Tuesday’s then went to the Simpsonville and Woodruff Road Walmarts trying to find the Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of AC/DC’s Let There Be Rock, the concert video that influenced me heavily in my early days as a budding adolescent metalhead.  I was excited because it was the first day the 1979 concert of the band in Paris had been available in digital form.

Unfortunately, we could not find the limited edition at Walmart despite the fact it was on their website whereas it was not on Best Buy’s.  However, it turned out that Best Buy was, indeed, the place we found it despite the product’s absence from their website.  Regardless, I now own it and got to watch it last night since I could not attend RUSH’s Time Machine Tour which kicked off at the BI-LO Center in Greenville.  Hate I missed it but I got to enjoy a killer show right in my own living room!

What a week for nudity! Anthony Weiner, what’s up man? Actually, don’t answer that we already know. At first of course he denied it, then finally admits that was his junk in the Twitter pics. At first though he claimed he was hacked. something similar happened to me earlier on my Twitter http://twitter.com/OhMaffew and yes I claimed I was hacked, just to show people how stupid it is when a celeb or even a politician make these claims. But before Captain Weiner, “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively had about 6 nudes hit the internet. Sweet sweet Blake still claims it’s not her in those pictures. It’s weird, it’s her in the pictures. And they’re real good. Better than the Rhianna nudes that got “hacked” and I was a fan of those. I would link to the Blake Lively pics but the Web Nazi Tracy West doesn’t like when we link to porn, so just Google image search “Blake Lively cellphone pics” and they’re you go. I liked her before, I like her a lot more now. And it’s not just because she’s using an AT&T iPhone. she’s a grown ass woman, Weiner is a grown ass man. Yet, they and the rest of society act like kids when it comes to nudity. I hate you Satan snake! If it wasn’t for Satan snake, Adam and Eve wouldn’t have noticed they were naked and we could all be naked. Damn you to hell Satan snake! I propose a Facebook type network, whereas all individuals over the age of 18 must be photographed naked and uploaded to a profile. Here’s why. If a celebrity or a politician or your husband or your grandma gets caught sending out nudes, they can’t deny it. We could all log in to this website and see for ourselves. Charge $9.99 a month to be able to look through the pics and put that money toward all the money we owe China. Sure, we’d all be pornstars essentially but if you fly in an airplane you’re already getting felt up like a hooker, if we’re getting screwed at LEAST we can pay off this deficit. And yes I’d gladly take a nude for the site, I’ll sign up right after Kimberly Kelly does.
Love,
Maffew

People don’t know exactly what goes into some of the things we do on the show. For instance, where do we find tazers and pepper spray and Liquid Ass? Well, all of those things can be purchased. When we need rats, we have a rat guy.
When we need bugs…Well, we gotta do that the hard way. I wish there was video footage of me wandering around outside my house at 5AM looking for bugs so we’d have one for Taze or Dare since one of the options was take a tazer shot or…eat a bug.
So imagine it. It’s dark out. I’m in my boxers and a Planet t-shirt walking around the front yard with an empty mason jar and one of those tiny green fish tank nets. Looking for bugs!
On a normal night, there are millions of bugs crawling around my downtown Greenville neighborhood. Huuuuge cockroaches, all manner of beetles and bugs I can’t begin to describe. It’s like a bird, bug, squirrel, mole and rabbit sanctuary in downtown Greenville after dark. This morning, though, there were no bugs to be found! I spent a half hour fruitlessly looking for insects I could not find.
Finally, though, I achieved success when I found a mayfly in my truck on my way to work. I captured it in a 44oz cup from Spinx. And at the end of the day, no one ate the poor little mayfly so I let it go free outside the station around 9. I’m sure it was promptly hit by a car. Sorry, little mayfly.

To counter last weekend’s nonstop adventures, we decided to take it easy this weekend.  Tessa fell asleep around 10 Friday night and we both slept in until 11 am Saturday morning.  For those of you keeping count, that’s 13 whopping hours of sleep she got!

I went with her to Coop’s and we discussed getting together with her personal trainer and friend of mine Mike Baehser later.  He agreed to cook us a late lunch in return for our offer to take him to the movies.

So, after our workout, we went and grabbed a few things, took showers and went over to Mike’s.  He cooked us some tasty chicken and pasta with stuffed mushrooms which we devoured then went to Hollywood 20.

We caught the 5 o’clock showing of X-Men: First Class which I thought was pretty good despite being extremely Hollywood.  Plus I’m a fan of James McAvoy (from Wanted) and Michael Fassbender (from 300 and Inglourious Basterds) and, I gotta say, I’m now a fan of Jennifer Lawrence as she is my favorite new set of blue boobies!

I think once we got home, we didn’t leave the apartment again the rest of the weekend despite my good intentions of going to church Sunday morning which proved to nothing more than such.  Lord, I will get back in church!  As soon as I stop worshipping St. Mattress!
