Why do women love shoes? Because, no matter how much weight you gain or lose, shoes always look great.!!!!! A nice pretty pair of shoes can make or break your oufit.Shoes can determine that course of the night. Sexy, or conservative. I thought about my own shoe addiction after I read an article about women in Britain.

This is what the study found: An average woman in Britain owns 20 pairs of shoes. 11 pairs of her shoes are worth a totals of $670 will remain tucked away for the right occasion that never comes despite leaving more than half of their footwear to gather dust, most women will continue to fuel their shoe addiction, splashing out on an additional eight new pairs a year. Nearly a third of the 3,000 women surveyed even admitted forking out on shoes that were the wrong size, just because they liked them. I thought about my shoe collection in my closet. I have a rack of shoes hanging on the closet door. I have another rack of shoes on the floor. I have a basket full of sandals and flip flops. I also have boxes of shoes that are on shelves. I have more than 20 and less than 500 shoes. I have shoes that I have only worn once. I have shoes that I have not worn at all. I have shoes of all colors. 2 pairs of red pumps. I decided to look at my husbands shoe collection. He has about 10 pairs of shoes. This is what I found out about the Rise Guys: Matt says he has about 12 pairs of shoes.  Matt hates flip flops.  He loves his “Sinooks.” Fatboy has 5 pairs of shoes. Nine has 6 pairs. Most men do not like breaking in a new pair of shoes.  Men buy shoe for comfort.  Men rarely polish their shoes these days.   Our Grand Fathers used keep their shoes clean and polished all of the time.  Men own more pairs of tennis shoes than any other type of shoes.

During the first little warm spell of the year, back in February, I renewed my love of fishing. Matt did as well. We did some fishing and had some fun. Didn’t catch many fish, but we got an early start. This went on for…maybe six weeks. Then my world got flipped upside down with the news I was gonna be a daddy in 2011.
It’s funny how those things work out sometimes. I hadn’t been fishing much in several years, then I spent a lot of time doing it for a few weeks. Now some of my friends have been a little upset that I haven’t gone fishing in a while, or that I haven’t gone to any Braves games yet this year.
At the moment, I don’t really care. Not that I’m trying to abandon my friends, but I’m into a lot of things that are so awesome and new that I really don’t want to pry myself away from them just yet.
I’m sure it all levels out over time and I really do hate that a lot of my friends seem a little jealous that they don’t have my undivided attention like they’ve had in years past.
See, the way it was for most of my 26 years, my good friends had my attention whenever they wanted or needed it and now that’s a little bit different for them and for me. I’ve also lost some friends I think. Or I find myself losing some and that part of it is very unfortunate. Ultimately, though, it’s good to be able to find out who your friends are and who just needed you for a matter of convenience.
I do find it a little bit odd that a lot of my friends are kinda possessive of me. I’ll reason it out in my mind that they are all clinging to me because they are gay and in love with me. That’s entirely possible…right?
Probably not. Either way, though, I’m terribly excited and I can’t wait for what’s to come. When I do go fishing again, I bet I enjoy it more than I ever have before.

The first weekend in May never fails to be one of the busiest weekends of the year and 2011 is NO exception!  First off, it is always the kickoff to our annual month long celebration of manhood, Test Fest!  Again this year started out with one of my favorite ‘manly challenges’, BOWLING!  Wade hampton Lanes was once again host to our Rock ‘N’ Bowl which was a blast as always!  This year, Tessa and my friend and personal trainer Mike Baehser got to join me!  And no, they’re NOT in the picture below!  Lol!

After the Rock ‘N’ Bowl, we went to try out the restaurant Dex recommended to me, Red Bowl on S Pleasantburg.  The food, especially the sushi, was fantastic and reasonably priced!  I think Tess and I have a new fave!

The next morning I had an appearance at Borderlands Comics on Laurens Rd for National Free Comic Book Day.  The crowd turnout was incredible as was the interesting ‘characters’ that showed up – not the least of which was the Doc Ock incarnation from Spider-Man 2!

I would have loved to have stayed longer at the event but, when my time was up, I had to head to Charlotte for the first ever Carolina Rebellion.  The lineup was stellar however I can’t say that I was too pleased with much of the execution.  By the time Tessa and I got to Charlotte, it was already 3:30 (four hours after the first band performed) and there was STILL a line of cars trying to exit the interstate.  We passed the exit and took the next one and managed to arrive at the Metrolina Expo around 4:10 – I remember because BLACK STONE CHERRY was just taking the Jagermeister Stage.

When we pulled up, we were shocked to learn that they were charging $30 for parking.  Nevertheless, we paid it and managed to park close to the front gate so we could hurry and make it to the media tent to give Dex a hand with his numerous interviews.

By the time we actually found the media tent, Dex had already finished most of the interviews but Tessa did manage to shoot some video for Dex’s interviews with GODSMACK and HINDER.

When we left the tent, THEORY OF A DEADMAN was playing on the Rebellion Stage followed by SEETHER on the Carolina Stage.  As the sun was going down, STONE SOUR took the Rebellion Stage as we did a little shopping at the I Love Vagina tent where we both got silicone wristbands that proclaim “I LOVE VAGINA!”

We made our way back to the car as THREE DAYS GRACE was taking the Carolina Stage as we had decided we could take no more.  GODSMACK and AVENGED SEVENFOLD would have to wait for another day!  We refused to pay $7 for a hot dog let alone $9 for a beer!  I mean I know concessions at events like that are always overpriced but how far can you gouge it?!  So we made our way into Pineville and stopped at a Steak ‘n Shake and grabbed food.

Again, the lineup was spectacular but changes need to be made if this event is going to be an annual occurrence.  I just don’t think concertgoers should be taken advantage of to such a degree.  Personally, since I work in radio, it doesn’t affect me because my tickets were free but for those who paid their hard-earned money, they should be cut some slack for crying out loud!

Sunday morning Tessa and I went to my mom’s church, Word of Life Ministries in Simpsonville as a Mother’s Day request.  The pastor (or ‘bishop’ as he called himself) was a bit of a showman that didn’t strike me as completely genuine but it is not my place to judge so I will not add to my observation and make it such.

After church, we hit up the New China Buffet in Simpsonville and then stopped by to visit my ’second mom’, Aunt Pat.  We then had to head up to Spartanburg to meet with Tessa’s mom at the Regal Spartan Stadium 16 to take her to see Thor and then out to eat at Red Lobster.  Yeah, we ate out a LOT this weekend!  Good thing we didn’t eat at the Rebellion or we wouldn’t have had enough money considering we’re both flat busted!

Maybe I should change the name of the blog from “The Mind Of Maffew” to “Maffew’s Randumb Thoughts” – get on that Web Nazi.

Here’s the deal, when I sit down to blog I don’t really have an agenda.  So I sit here and rack my brain about what to write about.  My mind is all over the place today because of various situations, so I thought I would share some randumb thoughts.

NYC announced that its new taxi will be a Nissan minivan. The new cabs run so quietly you can actually hear the Mets sucking.  Kentucky Derby was Sunday.  Didn’t seem like a big deal really.  Who won?  Hell I don’t even remember.  I had $50 on Chad Kroeger and I don’t think he even finished.  Speaking of foreigners, Porn star Alison Tyler offered oral favors to whoever killed Osama bin Laden. 2 mins after the killing, Bill Clinton knocked on her door dressed as a Navy SEAL.  By the way, those dudes are bad ass.  Not just the Osama guys but all of them.  I love those guys.  I hate people with bike racks behind me making me think they’re a cop from a distance.  Also lump in people who went to a government auction and bought a decade old Crown Vic.  They should at least be forced to paint it non Police colors, purple comes to mind.

This is definitely one of my favorite times of the year, TEST FEST. We just had Rock N Bowl and that was a success. We definitely had more people than last year, thanks to you guys of course. Bowling is great fun anyway, don’t need much of a reason to go out and knock some frames out. Next up, is Paintball. I’m excited for it, it’s gonna be Matt’s Gamecock team (BOOOOO) vs. Fatboy’s Clemson team. I only refer to me in the third person there for billing reasons only, lol. I feel like I’m ahead in recruits judging by the callers we have had so far. So I extend the invitation to you, join my team now. Go to newrock933.com, find the link, and JOIN MY TEAM. We will prevail, until then, see you on the air.

Alas, my eyes hath beheld the hammer of the gods and the one whom it was bestowed upon!  Ok, yeah, I went and saw Thor!

Returning again to Hollywood 20’s RPX theater and in 3D to boot, I got to observe the spectacle of Marvel’s Norse gods in all their splendor!  Besides the fact I had to pee from the moment it began, I enjoyed the film immensely!

Once again, the film is yet another piece in the puzzle of the story of The Avengers which will unfold in theaters next summer.  Let’s not forget that we still have Captain America: The First Avenger due out in July!

Anyways, make sure you stay through the credits for yet another insight into The Avengers film!

Who would think that  Osama  Bin Laden would be brought to justice. This announcement came on the heels of the President releasing his birth certificate. Whats next,  falling gas prices, wage increase?.  Whatever it is, I am pleased that things are getting resolved.  If people are using a future election to get things done, then, I am all for it. If the world is ending in December of 2011,  therefore, I think it is best to kill the most wanted man in America.  Is it a conspiracy?  Was Osama really shot and killed?  I would think so.  We have sacrificed the lives of many young Americans in this War on Terrorism.  I personally have  lost loved ones  who have served in the armed forces since the 911 Tragedy happened.

Do I think that this is closure? No! I hate that expression.  Losing someone can never be vindicated. That person will never feel the satisfaction of watching someone die for their murder.  However, to take the life of a murderer may save the lives of other people.  I don’t think that we should release Osama’s death photo.  I don’t want to make this man a martyr.

So, I guess this is revenge in some way.  I don’t want to see what happened to him. It is not enough for the pain and suffering he has caused. He  was killed fast and suffered very little.   Maybe he will feel the pain of 3,000 victims in hell.
