Today is payday, lol, not only that but I have a birthday coming up at the end of the month and I’m always excited for this time of year, MARCH MADNESS BABY. We usually hear discussions about who got screwed and how, and for this year, Colorado has the best case of anybody, especially for beating Texas and Kansas St three times. There definitely needs to be a BCS system to pick the field. Also, bring it back down to 64 teams and put some value to the regular season. I can’t really think Virginia Tech got screwed since Clemson did beat em, and though the Hokies beat Duke at home, they suffered a lot of injuries this year that hurt them and they will be back. Seth Greenberg is a great coach.

Having said all of that, I will try to post my tournament brackets for NCAA and the NIT later, but my Final Four of now consists of: UNC, UCONN, KANSAS, PITT. I really think UNC can pull it together with Harrison Barnes and really make it a long way to the championship game to play Kansas. I just think that Kansas with the Morris twins and they owe Roy one for sure, I think they are the National Champions come April 4th. Duke I think will trip up with UCONN, after all, they owe them for what happened in Tampa years ago, lol. People ask me what do I think of Wofford’s chances this year, and though they are pretty strong, with Noah Dahlman, sometimes you just run into a buzzsaw, in this case, a great shooting mormon named Jimmer Fredette, even without Davies, they should be able to handle Wofford. Also, look for Oakland to upset Texas. I gotta feeling about that one.

As far as the NIT goes, this is one of the best fields in recent memory, should be a good tournament to watch to keep you going until the NCAA’s resume each week. My NIT Final Four is: MIAMI, COLORADO, BOSTON COLLEGE, VIRGINIA TECH. A strong ACC representation in the NIT Final Four wich bodes well for the one of the power six conferences, the ACC. I think Boston College is good but a couple years away, they got a real good coach, but I think Malcom Delaney is enough to carry Virgina Tech to the championship game where they will lose to Colorado. Colorado had a great season and definitely should have gotten in so they will make up for it here, win the NIT, and make a statement. As I say, brackets hopefully soon to come, and good luck in yours.

Over the weekend, my friend and fellow ex-DETHRO TULL bandmate Blake Crocker and his wife were down from the great metropolis of Boiling Springs, SC as he had a few days off from work which is rare because they work the poor bastard 7 days a week!  He sent me a text early Saturday afternoon to see if Tessa and I had plans to which I replied that we did not so he proceeded to invite us to join them at Copper River at 6 pm.  Tessa and I jumped at the opportunity to get a chance to visit with them since our schedules are usually too hectic to find time to get together socially.

When we got to Copper River, Blake and Stacy had already put in their names for a table but we still ended up waiting nearly an hour because the restaurant was so busy!  Having developed quite an appetite to this point, I was ready to eat a massive wild beast….AND I DID!

Aptly named “Bigfoot’s Mother-in-Law”, she is a “giant 12 oz. patty topped with grilled black forest ham, crispy fried shrimp, Jack cheese, remoulade sauce, shredded lettuce, tomato, red onions & pickles” of which I ate every bite….INCLUDING FRIES!

Everyone at the table seemed quite impressed with my feat of ingestion….including our waitress!  I frivolously asked her what I got for finishing the whole thing and she responded by offering me a free ice cream.  Needless to say, I accepted and damn near finished that too!

Also over the weekend as Tessa and I went grocery shopping at Wally World, I grabbed a 4-pack of AA batteries for my singing fish of McDonald’s fame, “Frankie the Fish” whose factory batteries had long since passed.  Tracy beware, Frankie is BACK!

New Music to check out!

Aaron Lewis “Town Line” Country Music Album

The Stand Frontman’s debut solo release. The first single is titled appropriately, “Country Boy.” love it or hate it! In my opinion, it is an honest attempt of an artist trying different styles of music. I think it works in this case. I guess even “Yankees” can get a little country.

Sick Puppies: “Polar Opposite” Wal-Mart or digital -only EP that features acoustic versions of songs from their first two albums. I always love an acoustic cd. The squeak of the metal strings. I really like it when I get to hear a band play in the studio or the in the P1 Lounge.

Serj Tankian: “Imperfect Remixes”-EP that has re-recorded songs from Tankian’s second solo album, including a guest appearance from Rage Against the Machine Guitarist, Tom Morello.

Beady Eye: “Different Gear, Still Speeding” One half of the Gallagher Brothers, Ex Oasis Singer, Liam proclaims that his knew band will be just as big as Oasis. Probably not as good without Noel! Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher says that he is working on new material, and that he is not anywhere near finished.

Over the past ten days, I have been over to Frankie’s Fun Park to play miniature golf THREE TIMES and played a total of four rounds between their three courses.

On Sunday, February 20th, Tessa and I went and knocked out two rounds on courses number 2 and 3.

Then I went back last Saturday, February 26th with my friends John and Kelly while poor Tessa was working the second of three straight night shifts and we took on course number 1.

As if that wasn’t enough, last night Tessa and I had a double date with her best friend Krista and her new boyfriend Brandon and ended up hitting up Frankie’s and I got to revisit course number 1.

What’s the point of all of this?  I don’t know!  I just needed something to blog about….
