Everyone wants to look younger, but many of us at work have habits that keep us from having great skin. Look around the room at work and see what everybody looks like. Sun damage is the obvious skin killer. Heavy smokers are five times more likely to have wrinkles than non smokers. Also, these people are more susceptible to skin cancers. Therefore, smokers have a slower healing time than non-smokers. Too much drinking can ruin your health and your skin. Alcohol can cause your body to become dehydrated and make your face puffy. Enough sleep, I strive to get at least 6 hours a night. But, according to this study, you should try to get at least 7 and 8 hours of sleep per night. I don’t think very many people actually get enough sleep. When you get enough rest your complexion is brighter and your eyes and not red. The dark circles and bags under the eyes really take a toll on your skin. Stress is the real killer. If you are exposed to a lot of stress in your life, your skin will suffer and you will look pale. Slower oxygen speed to get rid of toxins faster. Diet, look at the person munching on that jelly doughnut sitting next to you. You are what you eat. Eating a healthy diet makes your skin look clear and healthy. After reading this article, I realized that most of us don’t take care of ourselves. When you are 18 and in college you think that you can rest later. Why miss anything? When you are in your 30’s,  you realize that you should have taken better care of yourself. Men are now using “Botox” and other products to retain their youth. Ironic ? You have heard the saying, “I can sleep when I am dead.”

I caught a lot of crap from people today about my dislike for Major League Baseball.  I USED to be a fan.  Before the strike in 1995 occured, I was about the most passionate baseball fan you would find.  I knew about Abner Doubleday, Murderer’s Row, Big Six, and Shoeless Joe.  I knew all the stats, World Series champs, silver sluggers, etc etc etc.  I collected baseball cards, I went to games, then it just ended.

I played little league baseball for San Souci-I played first base.  Growing up baseball was my life.  And at 20 I turned my back on the game because it turned it’s back on me.  These guys I looked up to were fighting over money.  It’s a game but yeah it’s a job.  I was in college just about to start this radio chapter of my life and I said to hell with it.

I tried to get back into when McGwire and Sosa were chasing Roger Maris.  It was like being a kid in 1961 when Maris and Mickey Mantle were chasing Babe Ruth’s 60 homeruns in a season that he hit in 1927.  I couldn’t do it.  I tried.  On top of all that, the steroids.  I was done and still am.  To hell with baseball.  The NFL is where it’s at.  I’ll pull for the Braves yes and if that makes me a fairweather baseball fan then so be it.  I always will stick with my teams unlike FATBOY who has switched NFL teams 4 times in 5 years.

Tickle it pissies!

During headlines Tuesday we did a story on Elizabeth Taylor’s fortune. Liz was believed to be worth at least 600 million. It turns out that the number is close to $1 Billion. Liz had some very successful business deals. She made $77 million off her White Diamonds perfume in 2010. She owned $150 million worth of Jewelry, which is going to be auctioned off to raise funds for her Aids Foundation. Liz’ real estate holdings were worth at least $130 million. Elizabeth’s estate will be split between her four children.
Nine said that it seems excessive to have such a large jewelry collection.  I mentioned that it was valuable to Liz, like collecting sports memorabilia to guys. Giving the jewelry to her aids foundation is a kind gesture. Some of the jewels could have been gifts from her many husbands. She wore different things during the many Hollywood events.

When Aids hit Californian in the early 80’s, Elizabeth Taylor was not afraid. She stepped up to help save the lives of many gay men who were affected by this terrible disease. She refused to treat HIV/Aids sufferers like lepers.  She became an international spokes person for the fight against the disease.

I gotta tell you, this is a pretty exciting week on the show, Michael Strahan is on tomorrow. Thats very exciting, a take on the current NFL labor situation from the all time sack leader, should be an insightful perspective. My birthday is Thursday, not sure what I’m gonna do yet, but nothing outside it looks like, lol. I think the best present I could ever get is a paycheck, and I get one tomorrow, lol *rimshot*. Last Monday, we lost someone very close to the local scene, Jamie Browder, wife of Mitch Browder, bassist for WHISKEY MOUNTAIN MACHINE.  Jamie had been fighting a very long battle with breast cancer and died just a day after I shaved my head for St. Baldrick’s Foundation for Kids’ Cancer Research.

The news came as a shock to me because I honestly thought she was getting better and I truly regret not having known her better than I did.  I saw her out at shows all the time and spoke to her only a few times here and there.

My heart goes out to Mitch and to all of Jamie’s family as this is without a doubt an insurmountable loss.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jamie, you will be missed and I look forward to getting to know you better one day in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Fate

Posted in: Uncategorized

Does fate  determine what path you take? What happens to you if you deviate from the plan.? Are you destined to be with the people in your life? If so, then I  why did I have so many bad relationships. Why do people cheat and ruin their marriage. How come you fall in and out of love with people. “The Adjustment Bureau” is a movie that tackles the issue of destiny.   Matt Damon stars as John Norris, who is an up and coming Politian heading for the Senate. Emily Blunt, plays Elise. A choreographer-dancer, Who John can’t get out of his mind. What John doesn’t realize that he was never meant to meet Elise. Then, by chance he see her again. But, when a twist of fate puts them together,The Adjustment Bureau attempts to keep them apart at any cost. Elise is not supposed to meet John Norris. John was not supposed to sit next to her, let alone see her again. The twist of fate and timing puts the two together. The Adjustment Bureau sets out to keep them apart. It is a dark corporation that is responsible for keeping people on the right path to fulfill there predestine lives. The Adjustment Bureau men are a gangster- like characters who wear hats and suits. These guys follow the orders of the unseen Chairman to make sure everyone on earth is following the plan. The plan has been followed since the beginning of time. If John and Elise deviate from the plan, it will disrupt the cosmic order.? Elise was destined to marry someone else. It made me think of Gods Plan. Are we supposed to meet and have relationships with  the people in our lives. Can we control our own lives and change the way we live them?. I know I have made some bad mistakes with some of the people that I have met along the way. I thought of this movie when Matt said, that he had revealed to a girl that he had a “crush” on her.  How would Matt’s life be different if he was able to have a relationship with this girl is High School.? Would I be working with him?

Well, who would have thought VCU would have made it this far? I certainly didn’t. Though Shaka Smart is a good coach and we saw flashes of that while he was at Clemson, it seems he may be on the way out at VCU, as Jeff Capel was if I remember correctly. Nothing wrong with a platform job, allways looking for the next best one right? I think it’s interesting that Butler could repeat as a second appearance in the National Championship Game. Imagine that, Michigan did it in ‘92 and ‘93, and lost them both, but I bet you can’t tell me a single player on this Butler team, I could name you the fab five and Rob Pelinka, lol. I love March Madness, we will see who comes out victorious but goes to show, no matter where he is, you can never count out John Calipari.

Well, as of Sunday, all my curly locks are gone!  Stoneman from Rock 101, Dex and myself all shaved our heads at the 4th Annual St. Baldrick’s Head Shaving Fundraiser for Kids’ Cancer Research.  We collectively raised over $7,000 and, on top of that, I got to donate my hair to Locks of Love!  ONE haircut, TWO charities!

Last week, Tessa and I took our second vacation together as we made the long ass haul down to Orlando, FL to hit up Universal Orlando and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Needless to say it was a nonstop adventure!

We left Greenville on Thursday making many well needed stops along the way!  Then, first thing Friday morning, we awoke to the terrible news of the earthquake in Japan while simply checking on the day’s weather forecast.  Trying to keep our spirits, when grabbed some breakfast and hit Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

When we first got into the park, the lines weren’t too bad so we hit The Incredible Hulk Coaster and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man in the Marvel Super Hero Island.  We skipped past all the water rides since it was still a bit chilly and ran right past to the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  Lo and behold, that was where the crowd was!  We rode Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and had to get out of there due to the insanity of the crowd but not before Tessa took numerous pictures and shed a few tears over the replication of the scenery from the films of which she is a big fan!

After that, we grabbed some food and I had the bright idea of hitting the water rides with the temp still in the 60s!  So, we hit all three water rides then made a break back to the hotel to change and wrap up for the day then had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.

Saturday it was back at it again as we hit Universal Studios first thing in the morning.  The crowd wasn’t as bad for most of the day allowing us to cover the entire park and be done fairly early so we could shower and take a brief nap before going to Planet Hollywood for dinner.

We didn’t get in until late Saturday and realized on the way back to the hotel that we had to set our clocks ahead an hour and lose yet another hour of sleep.  Needless to say, that made it all the more difficult to get up bright and early to hit Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

At the start of the day, the crowds weren’t terrible so we immediately hit the two most popular rides in the park: the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring AEROSMITH and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror which were right next to each other on Sunset Blvd.  I gotta admit I was pretty scared getting on the Tower of Terror for the first time since I am not a big fan of drops.  However, I loved the ride and it has now become a new favorite of mine!  I was dissapointed to learn that Star Tours was temporarily out of commission due to renovations so I may have to schedule a return visit soon!

After we left the park, Tessa and I went to Downtown Disney for some dinner at Rainforest Cafe and some shopping!  The crowds out there progressively got worse so we had to make our escape after we hit every store we could fit into!

We slept in just a little longer Monday morning getting up just in time to grab some free breakfast and check out in time.  We then made our way up to Savannah, GA where we hit River St. and did a haunted tour of historic Savannah….in the top of a hearse!  Tessa took a TON of pictures on the tour and numerous orbs showed up in the images.  I’m not gonna say what I believe the orbs are but what I will say is that the only time said orbs appeared in any of the pics on the entire trip were that night and on that tour.  Just take a look at THIS one:

The next morning we slept in yet again getting up just in time to check out at noon and head to Tybee Island to eat lunch, walk on the beach and the pier and do yet more shopping (needless to say our asses are now BROKE)!

When we got home, I helped unload and then went to the station to try and catch up on some work and I have been doing that ever since!  I love vacations but, boy, they sure do tax my ass!

Ok here’s the story. So the Model is safe but… “A Snake that bit a model in her fake breast has died from silicone intake. The model, Orit Fox, was taken to the hospital for a tetanus shot and released after observation. A few days later, Spanish TV station Telecinco reported that the snake died from silicone poisoning.”
